Busy day.....

sorry folks was busy yesterday...so here comes yesterdays blog...today! ;)

I was busy designing a poster for the national technocultural feast organised by our college... CROSSROADS '09.... the theme for the fest this time around is Atlantis..which is the mythical (?) city that is long lost by the curse of Greek (or is it roman?) Gods... I tried to make the poster look as the ruins of the city that is lying around in the sea bed... n the most of the writings is made golden to bring about a rich look...i have attached the poster above...n i expect ur honest comments and criticisms....

and before that??...To start with let me tell u a simple story... or that's wht i think it is..... there exists a sis n bro in Cochin... the bro wud do anything for his spoilt n pampered sis who has a sworn enemy with whom this bro is in love with... now the prob is tht the siblings hav promised each other earlier tht they will only marry the person whom the other wud choose... enter into the picture a rogue turned gud guy.... and a doctor with whom the sis falls in lov with...also add 3-4 comedians who provide us with comical relief(?)... Sounds pretty lame? Well actually this is the basic plot for the director Shafi's latest venture 'LOLLIPOP' tht i went to watch yesterday morning..... Unimaginative and mediocre at its best, the film is yawn inducing and is a complete torture to watch for the 2 hrs n sum minutes while it lasts... the only part i felt relieved was during the interval... The movie makers in Malayalam film industry seems to think that any film with snazzy editing (actually below average by world cinema standard), ear drum breaking loud music with no musical value what-so-ever n heroes n heroines who try to imitate bollywood and tollywood lik zombies deserves the label of 'film for the Youth'.... Fuck you! Who r u to categorize the youth of today who have always enjoyed and promoted films of substance, as mere mindless animals whom u can use to mak som quick money..??On the acting front the only one i could see was Jayasuriya who slips into the robes of the character that he potrays...Prithviraj dons the new looked of the muscled up hero n though his acting has improved a lot from the past, he needs to go a long distance before he can be labelled as a decent actor... he needs to work more on the emotional front... kunjakko boban serves his usual purpose of just being the eye candy... the heroines on the other hand completely failed to make any impression and sumtimes may even get on ur nerves... bhavana who potryed characters lik tht which she potrayed in 'Nammal' is completely wasted in this film... i guess she is trying to be the next nayanthara or sumthing n to b frank i didn't like her in this new avatar.... on the contrary Roma who is decent in her looks is the weakest link in the film..she is on an all time low on acting panache and even gives one the feeling tht she was forced to do this film... the comedians like salim kumar n others fail to tickle ur funny bones excpte 2-3 scenes of Suraj Venjarammodu where we actually laugh not becos the comedy was excellent but compared to other comedies in the film they were a relief... and into a plot that is comparable to a story cooked up by a preschooler, many undesired n uncalled for side track stories are added, making the viewer leave the theatre with nothing except an intense headache...
I wud go with a rating of 0.5/5 that too jus for the decent cinematography, editing, Jayasuriya's performance and Prithviraj's muscles... The director of many mass entertainers like Mayavi chocolate etc, Mr Shafi has got it ALL WRONG this time around and i have nothing to say except that THIS  IS  ONE  LOLLIPOP  THAT  U  WUD  WANT  TO  DEFINITELY  GIVE  A  MISS !!!!
